For us this race is personal! Together, Austin New Church and Restore Austin have created a marathon team not simply to support orphans, but to bring five orphans home from Africa! 100% of all the money raised for this run will go to placing five African orphans in four different homes from our church. Please take a second and meet their new families:
The Hatmaker’s: About two years ago, God began to lay on the Hatmaker’s hearts the desire to expand their family through adoption. Deep in their heart they knew this call to adoption was a global call. For not only did their heavenly father put in them the heart of adoption, but a desire to give a set of siblings from Ethiopia what every child deserves, a loving family, a secure home, and most of all, love from two parents that will last a life time, and if you know the Hatmaker’s you know God chose the right family. Brandon is the founding pastor of Austin New Church and his wife Jen is an author and conference speaker. Together they have three beautiful children, and are anticipating and praying for the addition of their new children.
The Gregory’s: Both Brandon and Gina are teachers for the AISD, and the voluntary youth pastors for Austin New Church. The Gregory’s joined our church family about a year ago with an obvious heart for young people, justice, and a willingness to serve. After getting to know them, it became obvious, that the Gregory’s were parents, without children of their own. God had placed in their souls, the heart of adoption, and is now bringing that to fruition as they are going through the process of adopting their first little boy from Rwanda.
The Shootman’s: Alex and Brettne are two of the founding members of Austin New Church and may be two of God’s greatest gifts
to our church family. They serve in every capacity they can and exhibit great leadership. God has blessed them with two handsome sons, but they had always hoped to complete their family with a daughter. After wrestling through a miscarriage years ago, they felt like God had told them to wait on having a third child. Even though God had told them to wait, he did not remove from either of them the desire for a little girl. Little did they know that God was going fulfill their longing, while at the same time fulfilling the hope of a little Ethiopian girl for a family that would love her unconditionally.
The Todd’s: The Todd’s, like the Shootman’s, were founding members of Austin New Church and have been a great example of Godly cha
racter, servanthood, and leadership. Adam sits on the Austin New Church board and Jessica runs our preschool ministry. The Todd’s add two beautiful children to our church, but deep in their soul they knew their family was not complete. After much contemplation and prayer about growing their family, they too believed that God was calling them to adoption. The Todd’s will be adopting from Ethiopia and by doing so they will be giving a child a Godly, loving family.
We are deeply humbled that God has given our young church plant such a heart for adoption, we are even more humbled that he would choose these three families as vessels to entrust theses children to. We thank you in advance for your support and prayers.
If you would like more information or if you are ready to support these three families, you can make your checks out to “Restore Austin” BUT MAKE SURE on the memo line, you write ‘Adoption team’ or ‘ABBA Fund’
